WELCOME TO SCARSDALE

      Scarsdale
is a community of beautiful homes and award-winning schools, offering a variety of parks and recreation areas along with a vibrant downtown shopping area reminiscent of an English village. Nicknamed "a village within a park," Scarsdale is a pretty town! Traffic islands and open spaces are planted annually with colorful displays of flowers, for all to enjoy. Accessible by the Bronx River Parkway and the Hutchinson River Parkway in central Westchester County, Scarsdale is a comfortable 32 minutes express train ride to Grand Central Station in Manhattan.  Although single family homes dominate the landscape, there are two co-op complexes plus an elegant rental apartment building in the center of Scarsdale Village.

Geographically divided into 5 areas -  Fox Meadow, Edgewood, Greenacres, Heathcote, and Quaker Ridge -  Scarsdale offers a neighborhood Elementary school in each area.  Children continue on to Scarsdale Middle School and Scarsdale High School.  Pre-school programs and child care are available in both private facilities and in local churches and synagogues.  One option for child care is provided by the program, Kids B.A.S.E. (Kids Before And After School Education), for kindergarten through 6th grades and The Little School, a preschool day care center.  Scarsdalians are fond of saying that the only industry in Scarsdale is EDUCATION!

From the introduction of computers in kindergarten classes to the interdisciplinary approach in teaching many classes at the High School level, students are encouraged to develop skills that will stand them in good stead throughout their education and in life experiences. The unique CAPSTONE PROJECT is an impressive example of helping young children to identify their interests and develop their curiosity about the world around them, while teaching them the skills of research. Because of our excellent schools and proximity to Manhattan, Scarsdale is well-known to the international community.  In fact, studies of different cultures are an integral part of the school experience, as in the annual week-long mini-United Nations sponsored by the CHOICE program at Scarsdale Middle School.   Students from other countries enrich the curriculum and experiences of all children.   Check out the Scarsdale Schools web site for more information: www.scarsdaleschools.org.  Along with a first-rate education, Scarsdale offers all residents opportunities to participate in sports and cultural activities.

Recreation available to residents includes tennis and paddle tennis courts, membership in the pool complex, a Village-run summer Day Camp, and a Summer Music Theater. There are also public and private golf courses, band concerts, art shows and more, rounding out summer activities. Scarsdale offers a wide-variety of courses in the Scarsdale Adult School, an excellent  Public Library, senior programs, and numerous opportunities to volunteer in the community.

Scarsdalians take pride in the tradition of volunteerism in our community, including programs and activities sponsored by the Scarsdale Historical Society, participation in school projects, and the volunteer school board and non-partisan system of government.  Helping to safeguard or care for neighbors, some residents donate their time as assistants at the Fire Department or at nearby White Plains Hospital.

Village residents enjoy a small-town atmosphere while dining and shopping here, often on a first-name basis with business owners.  More than just a pretty village, more than just a town of beautiful homes and excellent schools, Scarsdale is a Community for all ages.  As a long-time Scarsdale resident and Realtor, I would be delighted to show you our Village, help you to find your dream home here, and welcome you as my neighbor!
